Stop Consonants (P, B, T, D, K, G) (Topic 1) in Module 1 – English-Pronunciation (BG)

Stop Consonants (Plosives)

Stop consonants (also called plosives) briefly block airflow, then release it. English has pairs that differ mainly by voicing:

  • Voiceless: /p/ /t/ /k/ (no vocal vibration)
  • Voiced: /b/ /d/ /g/ (vocal vibration)

Aim for a clean stop + clear release. For voiced sounds, add gentle voice without pushing extra air.
